2020-03-18 15:04:48 While the COVID-19 pandemic has swept the globe, 14 people in Germany have been kept in the dark, until now. The contestants of reality TV show Big Brother had been living with an information blackout in Cologne, as part of a social experiment. However, as the number of cases in Germany passed 9,000, broadcaster Sat 1 came under pressure to break the news to them. And it did so in a primetime television show. Contestants were shown a video on the latest developments in Europe. Some asked if their families were alive and well, while others sat in stunned silence. Online, the show was heavily criticised for the live broadcast of the “reveal”.
