I can understand that people are afraid now and that nurses are a symbol of fear. Part of that fear is grounded in reality because nurses are more likely to be infected and therefor contagious. I could understand someone who wanted to avoiding contacting or dealing with nurses, even though it could be argued that nurses deserve the best treatment.

To go beyond avoidance and start heckling, or even assaulting, is absurd. Do they think that if they yell at nurses and punch them, then the nurses will go away and take the problems with them? To go beyond heckling and actually spit, that’s hard for me to wrap my head around. There are fewer gestures more contemptuous and disrespectful than spitting, and doubly so during a contagion. Jesus Christ.
